1946: Born Varanasi, India
Educated privately in Varanasi and Delhi. Matriculation, Poona 

1964-67: University of Regensburg, Germany. (Honours degree in Political Economy)

1967: Arrival in Britain, marriage, begin working in publishing

1967-to date: Have held a variety of posts in publishing.  In 1983 I started my own publishing company, which I still run today.

Textile training:
1964-67: While at University attended intensive courses in central European embroidery and textile conservation

1976: Diploma in textile history and practical Indian embroidery techniques, Calico Museum, Ahmedabad, India

1982: 3-month-intensive course in modem/traditional patchwork and quilting techniques, 
Libby Lehman’s Summer School, Houston, Texas

Memberships: 
December 2000: elected as full member, Society of Designer Craftsmen
May 2004:
elected as Associate Member, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists

Publications:
Embroidery Techniques from East & West, published by BT Batsford in the UK (2001) and Trafalgar Square in the United States (2003). [Click here for details]

Various articles for The World of Embroidery, also for American and German magazines.

Commissions: 
Corporate commissions in the UK include: wallhangings for Manders & Davidson Ltd and the Bank of Baroda in London. My work has also been commissioned by several private collectors in Germany, Italy, America and Japan.

Other activities:
2004: Joined the Committee of Cambridge Open Studios. This organisation, which is now over 30 years old, involves some 300 artists based in and around Cambridge. Under its auspices over 200 artists open their studios to visitors every year, during four weekends in July.

2006: Was invited by the Leicester-based organisation, NAVRANG, to run an art project involving several artists and funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.  The project, entitled INFLUENCES, culminated in an exhibition of the resulting work, held at Leicester New Walk Museum in Spring 2007.
