Mellow Fruitfulness, 1999 The brilliant colours of this wallhanging attempt to convey the glory of Autumn. The beautiful burnt-orange silk and metallic fabric used for the borders and the sashing was perfect for this piece and, once quilted, caught the light beautifully. I covered large areas of the hanging with free-hand machine-embroidery and worked the hand embroidery and the beading over it, building up the textures.
